So you have a dream? You have goals. You have the burning desire. You might even have the plans. But if you lack self-discipline, you’ll never achieve them. Perhaps you have heard this before but it is as simple as that. It is your life. You need to take ownership. Gone were the days where you have someone else telling/yelling at you on what and when to do things. Welcome to adulthood my friend. Whatever you want to achieve, no one else is going to have a higher stake in it other than yourself. Therefore all the more reason you should not depend on others to tell/yell at you on what and when to do the necessary actions.
To be self-discipline, it will require a lot of hard work and dedication, at least in the beginning. You need to literally force yourself to adhere to the schedule that you have created, the meals that you have planned or the actions that you have laid out. As they become habitual and routine, you’ll find that it gets a bit easier but even so, there’ll still be moments where you need to pull yourself up, literally.
However, despite all that, do not beat yourself up, at least not too much, when you fail to accomplish the set tasks within your planned timeline. The most important thing is to get back on the ride and work even harder to make things happen. And you need to have the self-discipline to do that. If you’re waiting for others to do it for you, it’ll be a very long wait – most probably, not going to happen. Know that the world does not revolve around you. It might seem so but it’s not. It owes you nothing. There are a lot of reality shows every single moment, about 7 billion of them. The sooner you acknowledge that, the faster you’ll be on your way to own the driver seat on your life. And once you own that seat, you’re a step closer to achieving the successes that you have been dreaming of.
