Priorities. We have often lived our lives doing things we think are important. And sometimes, to make ourselves feel productive, we do a lot of it. We undertake a lot of things in the hopes that it will either make us feel important or that we are not wasting time away.
That supposedly positive feeling is only temporary though. Sooner or later, you will suffer from burnout as you drive yourself senseless by performing tasks for the sake of doing and not having any meaning attached to it.
This idea of having a lot of things to do is usually the one most often cited when additional tasks or the ones with meaning come an individual’s way. The priorities that one has should always be revisited. Do not allow the lure of supposed productivity get in the way of what is important.
The only way to do that is to list them all out and decide which ones are a must for you. Most of the times, especially when you are starting to do this, everything might seem important. It is good to have principles and a bit of planning in your life. This will come in handy when you are ranking the options that you have. Also, at times like this, using your intuition, or gut feeling, helps too. The important thing to remember is that if something is important to you, you’ll find a way. Therefore do not make things difficult for you and the people around you when sorting out your to do list.
