It is quite as simple as that. There is a lot of talk about methods to focusing better. Essentially, if you can remove your distractions, you are good to go. At any one time, there could be a few things competing for your attention. That is why it is important for us to isolate and prioritise them. Admitedly, some are much better in blocking their mind from anything other than what they have to focus on. But for most of us, we need to implement some measures to curb our ‘ill disciplined’ self. Find out what works for you. Yes, it is a trial and error. Do not expect what works for others will work for you. And once you get the right mix for yourself, stick with it.
