Regardless of how big an institution is, it should always pay attention to its people. Treat them like fellow human beings. They also have feelings, problems, worries, motivations, dreams and the likes. The fact that many might have misunderstood or forgotten that pretty much any institution is made up of men/women is quite sad. Just because they make the big decisions doesn’t make them any less human than those working under or for them. Institutions would clearly benefit if the human factor is always considered when making decisions. And yes, that means that you need to do away with the top down approach. This does not only apply to the ‘big ones’ – organisations/companies/etc. Institution could be as small as even a family. If you are the head of any ‘institution’, just remember to treat the ones you are responsible for as fellow human beings too.
