No matter how much you care for others, lowering your own standards to make them feel better (or normal) is going to eat at you, albeit slowly. The more you continue to do so, the resentment that you will have inside your heart towards them will slowly grow to a point where you ultimately become mad at your own self. You need to realise that your relationship with yourself is something that you should not ignore. You need to put your foot on the ground and stay firm in your standards, especially the ones that are important to you, or there will just be negative energy coming out from you, from all sides. Remember, you have the power to decide how things should be when it comes to your own self. So, decide.
