Sure, you want your goals and dreams to happen yesterday. You have been conditioned to want things fast. Fast food, fast retailing, fast internet, fast cars, fast everything. That is the age we are living in. We want things to happen in an instant. Put on that miracle cream and your pimple or wrinkles disappear overnight. Drink this concoction and you will be trim and fit. All of these rarely do work, we know that but sometimes we just can’t help ourselves. When it comes to achieving our goals and dreams, we need to keep in mind the fact that the results will happen but it will take time. And that lack of instant results does not mean lack of results. Do not be fooled by adverts promising you overnight success. Unless it is real magic or winning the lottery, there is no such thing. You need to keep at it and hold out for as long as you can. If you sincerely believe in your dream, that you owe it to yourself to persevere. Sometimes the only difference between those who succeed and those who do not is which of these are willing to stay in the game a little longer.
Have you ever held back or not give your hundred percent to something? You fear that if you were to give your all, then there will be nothing left to offer. Nothing left to look forward to. You feel that if you held back a little, then you could wow them later. You just give a little more than enough but not what you’re really capable of at that point in time. Here is a thought. What if I tell you that as long as you’re breathing and opening up yourself to new experiences, conversations and knowledge, as long as you are growing your self, your best will always be yet to come. So don’t worry. Stop holding back. Give your best at that moment in time. Be open to grow your self. You will then always have a new level ‘best’.
This might sound a little out there to some but bear with me – everything that is occurring in your life, is happening for you. They do not occur to make your life miserable or sad. And they are most likely not there for mindless amusement. It does not matter what your religious beliefs are, this is a mindset. It is a powerful view of thinking that enables you to lift yourself up at any given situations, especially those that seem the hardest. When you view life as happening for you, you begin to appreciate more, and are more willing to understand than to hastily pass judgments. In your mind, there is always a tiny speck of gold even in the darkest of situations. And that is not some pretty talk. That is actual power which is the result of regularly conditioning your mind to be willing to look for the positives in every situations. To many, it will be very hard at first, and will only get easier after countless of struggles. But once you get the hang of it, you’ll find that it is now hard to be in a negative state for too long. And I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that’s a good ‘problem’ to have.
Many assume that with age comes wisdom and knowledge. Well that might be true in those times where information were not easily accessible, you can’t really make such arguments at this day and age. As one gets older, their experiences will help to shape their outputs where one can only hope that it is for the better. So using that logic, young people’s opinions are usually not taken into consideration when discussing ‘big’ issues. What might surprise traditionalists is that young people could also play an important role in the discussions. They too are affected by the events that are taking place and they are also concerned about them so perhaps opportunities for them to contribute in the betterment of the respective situations should be given. Their innocence, creativity and boldness would be assets to developing substantial form of work that is both effective and sustainable.
Each of us, regardless whether we show it or ask for it or not at all, wants to be liked. To be appreciated and loved. Having said that, when you desire to be liked by all, you’re in for a major let down. Sadly, that is the truth. Regardless if you’re doing or have achieved something really great, there will be others who will not be happy or like you for that matter. And that is not your problem. What you need to focus on, is yourself. Do you like yourself? Are you proud of what you did? Are you at peace with it? If you say ‘yes’ to all of those questions, then you should just move on with your life. Let those who mock or hate you for that matter, deal with their own personal issues. It should not concern you, at all. If you’re doing something right, there will be others who will like and appreciate you for it. Either way, keep going forward.
Every passing moment is one that you will never be able to get back. That is the honest truth. Regardless how rich or powerful you are, there is no way for you to bring back lost time. The clock ticks away and brings you closer to your final end. Your personal journey with time is real. It is uniquely yours. So make something out of it. Be intentional with your time. The power is in your hands. Do not let someone else dictate it for you.
If you truly believe in something, show it. It is not enough to just say it. But show it. Be willing to have skin in the game. Put your money, energy and time where your mouth is. When you do this, you are giving yourself less reasons to not go through with it. On the other hand, you also build trust and confidence in yourself because in a way, you ‘got something to lose’. While it might logically seem that the bigger the ‘push’ is, the harder you would be putting in the work, it might not always be true. So do not go and dig a hole for yourself. Be smart about it.
